Ah Nuts!

The Pistachio nut is back on the recall list. Two companies, Wonderful Pistachio and Texas Star Nut and Food Co., Inc., have issued a recall on the nuts due to possible Salmonella contamination.

So far, no illnesses have been linked to either product, but consumers are asked to not consume the  pistachios from the specific Lots and return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Click on the links above for more details on the products and the Lots numbers being recalled.

If you or a someone you know has consumed the items, watch for signs of illness. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It is not uncommon to experience fever, diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Call your health care provider if there are any signs of a serious infection.
