Happy New Year!

New Year’s Eve is upon us, and while you are out ringing in the new year, keep this in mind. According to Mother’s Against Drunk Drivers (MADD), New Year’s Day is the worst day of the year for alcohol related car crashes. Some other things to keep in mind:

  • The highest rate occurs among 21 to 25 year olds.

  • Only time will sober a person, not coffee, exercise or a cold shower.

  • Every two minutes, a person is injured in a drunk driving accident.

  • In a lifetime, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving accident.

  • Every day in America, 28 people will die as a result of drunk driving.

  • In 2013, more than 10,000 people died and 290,000 people were injured in drunk driving accidents.

So while you are out enjoying the beginning of the new year, stay safe. If you drink, call a taxi, call a sober friend, or have a designated driver and have a Happy New Year!
