Doug Perrine and Brandon Cole decided to jump into the Pacific off Mexico’s Baja California peninsula to photograph marlin feeding on a massive school of sardines. With fisherman overhead and frenzied marlin below, the two men were in for more than they had bargained for when suddenly Perrine’s body is bounced off the lower extended jaw of a massive Bryde’s (pronounced Bree-dah’s) whale taking a big gulp of sardine and seawater.
This 50 feet long whale is one of the least studied whales. Click here to learn more about their dive and more about the whales.
